In the small town of Blairsville, nestled in the North Georgia Mountains, there is a billboard advertisement of the local bank which states; "Strong Bank, Strong Service". My wife and I as well as many of the locals use this bank. The bank does have excellent service. Most of the tellers know not only myself but many of the customers by first name - impressive, especially today. The bank's advertising statement however is wrong? It was not a strong bank which built strong service, but rather strong service built a strong bank!
Now some of you are saying to yourselves or talking out load if your even stranger, "Ernie, you are being to critical." That critical spirit of mine when expressed outward toward others is dangerous and can be very unhealthy however, when expressed inward to self examine and self evaluate can produce tremendous results. That is why this particular bank is doing better than most, because they are constantly looking towards themselves for improvement.
When I think of "Customer Service" I think of my good friend Russell Krauskopf. He would tell me that he treated them how he would like himself or a family member treated under similar circumstances. With Russ, Customer Service was his Service! There were times I thought he would give away the store, but he consistently had the highest sales and the most compliments by customers. To this day when I need something done that requires a "special touch" - I still call on him.

The Principle of Application
The "Application" Principle or its more common name "Procrastination" is a Traditional or Home Based Business' nightmare. Even I procrastinate at times. I could prove it to you, but I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet!? Every thought that eventually makes its way to completion passes through a myriad of phases. In its most simplistic form there are three basic phases; Idea, Development and Application. It is "Application that separates all the other good ideas, plans and preparation from the rest.
Like every other "Phase", Application is best met with a time table. In other words; Plan your Work and Work your Plan. Someone once said that the key to eating an elephant is to take it one bite at a time. Most of our problems are our bites are to big to swallow? If you are "Melancholy" (in personality or temperament) like myself, we beat-up ourselves for not accomplishing EVERY LITTLE PLAN we make.
With the Business Principle of Application / Procrastination there are too many cliché's. I will end with one though; Just Do It...

The Principle of Integrity
For those of you who are fortunate enough to know him, Frank Baker is one of my best friends. Last month while Frank was visiting he told me a story about his son Matthew, when he was a pitcher for Lynn University. I contacted Matt to get permission to relay the following:
Matthew told me that he was approached by a young lady who wanted to "hook-up" with him. He told the girl that he was a virgin and was not interested. Apparently she spread the word about Matt's vow of abstinence and it eventually reached his baseball teammates. Matt had already been picked on for not talking (swearing) like the others, however when they caught wind of this he was ridiculed by the other players. During one of the verbal assaults which Matt usually weathered humbly, he turned to his teamates and said; "This evening I could be just like you, but you can never be like me!"
What an incredibly powerful statement which not only shut them up but gained their respect. This statement later opened doors with some of the players for Matt to share his faith in Jesus Christ. Matthew Baker is a man of strong moral character, like his father before him and his grandfathers. Matt currently attends a christian college and for a hobby fights in the MMA (mixed martial arts) and is single. Mom's tell you daughters - He's a Catch!!!

Star leadership Principle #5. "Trigger Control"
Trigger Control: Is the consistent and repeated squeeze of the trigger during the firing of the pistol. Proper Trigger Control along with a firm Grip keeps the firearm from jerking or pulling while shooting.
There is a saying; "Distance is time and time is safety." When you have the time then get the best Sight Picture and Trigger Squeeze you can. Through repetition anyone can be taught to react to a stimulus, only the highly prepared trained professional can reproduce appropriate responses during stressful situations. Is this you? Do you want it to be? This website can be a small part of what will become a life-long process of leadership development in your life.
Bottom line: Trigger Control fires directly to the deepest part of The Relationship.

Star Leadership Principle #3. "Sighting"
Sighting: For this fundamental principle of the Star Leadership Model we will combine both "Sight Alignment"and "Sight Picture"and call them "Sighting". Lets first take a look at each one individually.
3. Sight Alignment: Is the relationship between the front and rear sight of the pistol and the shooters eye, all aligned in a straight line.
3. Sight Alignment: Is the relationship between the front and rear sight of the pistol and the shooters eye, all aligned in a straight line.

"A skilled surgeon can remove a cancerous tumor and save your life, just as a skilled leader can focus his sight on a specific issue with an individual and keep the relationship intact!"
Bottom line: Sighting can save The Relationship!

Star Leadership Principle #2. "Grip"
2. Grip: A proper grip of any handgun is designed to put as much of the gun in contact with the most amount of the hand or hands as possible. Many poor grips leave gaps between the palm and the handgun. A combat handgun grip is a gross motor-skill, hard consistent squeeze, not to be confused with a marksmanship shooting were to tight of a grip will cause shaking (complex motor-skill) or a tremor.
Many years ago I heard a speaker say that the average high school senior could make about 95% of the decisions in most companies in the US. It's the other 5% of the decisions that separates the successful companies from the rest. Thats how its taught, this is how we apply it; Our "Grip" is not on an object, but is a physical, intellectual and emotional graspon the issue or problem at hand. This grasp is based on more than facts and figures. Do not confuse facts with truth. Truth is unchanging. Facts may be true, however not all are truth. Let me give you an example. At the writing of this I am 49 years of age. You will have to trust me that I am making a factual statement. Now this true statement is not truth. In a few short months I will stop being 49 and turn to 50. The idea is not necessarily someone's age, but to be able to differentiate between whats true and whats truth. If I fail to "get a grip of the situation I most likely will make an in appropriate or wrong decision. Even in-action is a decision.

Star Leadership Principle #1. "Stance"
1. Stance: In combat the position of your body in relationship to the threat can help or hinder the outcome. Optimal position is one that allows you to move quickly (making adjustments) and shoot accurately (firm foundation when possible) and utilize cover (protection) when available.
Thats how its taught, this is how we apply it; My "Stance" is not where I stand but what I Stand On?! What truth, law or principle is the foundation of which you are standing on, in life and in business? The optimal position in life or business is a foundation built on something solid, long lasting, time tested and able to apply.
